Shelley Smaltz, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS

Shelley has been active in the commercial real estate for over eleven years. She attended Ball State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design and minor in Marketing. Shelley is a state-certified general appraiser and a member of the Appraisal Institute and holds the MAI, SRA, and AI-GRS designations.  Her appraisal experience ranges from retail strip centers to industrial buildings and specializes in commercial and special use properties. Since 2011, she has served as the Vice President and Director of Appraisal Services of Good Valuation Inc.

Shelley believes in making a difference in her community and is involved in a variety of organizations that positively affect DeKalb County. She has served in extracurricular leadership roles for over 22 years that promote charity, culture, and education. 

In her free time, Shelley enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, grandson, and their black Labrador, Woody.

Senior Appraiser / Consultant

Shelley was awarded the MAI designation in 2018, the AI-GRS designation in 2022, and most recently in SRA designation in 2023 from the Appraisal Institute.  The MAI designation is held by appraisers who are experienced in the valuation of commercial, industrial, residential and other types of properties, and who advise clients on real estate investment decisions. The AI-GRS membership designation is held by professionals who provide reviews of appraisals of a wide range of property types, including commercial, industrial, agricultural, and vacant land.  The SRA designation is held by professionals who provide a wide range of services for residential properties including providing opinions of value, evaluations, consulting, and advice regarding real estate investment decisions.  

MAI, SRA, and AI-GRS designated members of the Appraisal Institute have met thorough requirements including continuing education, courses, testing, 4,500 hours of experience and demonstration of knowledge, understanding and ability. In addition, all members have outstanding character as measured by their peers.
